Overview
Student Affairs at Auburn University is excited to begin the search for an Accountant! This individual acts as accounting liaison with Central Business and Finance areas with respect to journal entries, reporting, analysis, and audit/reconciliation of accounts in a college, school, or department.
Responsibilities
- Supports Student Involvement staff and students with all purchasing and financial contract activities, ensuring the department's compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
- Prepares, processes, reviews and corrects expense vouchers, invoices, purchase requisitions or other transactions for Student Involvement, in compliance with approved budgets and University/department procedures.
- Leads, supervises, and develops the administrative and finance team composed of multiple full-time employees.
- Supports the Director of Student Involvement with budget analysis, budget planning, budget development and budget transfers, while developing and managing a Student Activity Fee pro forma.
- Prepares budget reports, budget reconciliations, and other specialized reports or analysis as needed by the department or division.
- Designs, monitors, and improves Student Involvement internal budget processes, while also leading the training and utilization of technology resources like PowerBI financial for Student Involvement staff and students.
- Serves as the lead liasion to and corresponds with Procurement, Contracts and Grants Accounting, Budget Services, the divisional financial and administrative group, and other departments on behalf of Student Involvement concerning accounting and financial information.
- Determines proper handling of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and approves within designated limits, policies or contracts.
Qualifications
Level I
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a degree plus a CPA.
Level II
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a degree plus a CPA plus 2 years of experience in accounting services OR
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a degree plus a CPA
Level III
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a degree plus a CPA plus 4 years of experience in accounting services OR
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a degree plus a CPA plus 2 years of experience in accounting services
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supervising full-time staff members
- Experience utilizing PowerBI and other tools to manage accounts and budget reports
- Experience managing budgets in a higher education setting
