Department Summary: The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 290 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations, this position has managerial oversight of the Accounts Payable (AP) and Records Management functions within the Athletics Business Office, while also assisting with monitoring the Athletic Department's expense budget. The incumbent exercises professional judgment/decision-making in interpreting institutional policy and procedure while implementing actions to meet the department's strategic goals and mission. These decisions will assist the program in reaching the goals/objectives of the department while ensuring compliance with relevant authorities and regulatory bodies, including but not limited to federal, state, local, institutional, NCAA and conference. The decisions made by the incumbent commit the program to a specific course of action, carry fiduciary responsibility and accountability. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which included administrative support for a project, program, or operation. Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; and evaluation of projects, processes, and operations; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • One year of postsecondary education may be substituted for up to one year of the experience.

  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of students, coaches, staff, donors, season ticket holders, and other athletic department and internal/external University constituents.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or broader accounting functions.
  • Prior experience leading or supervising a function or team within a finance or accounting department.
  • Experience working in higher education or a government entity.
  • Experience working in college or professional athletics.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite, purchasing platforms and/or ERP systems (e.g. Ellucian Banner).
