SUMMARY
SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an ACE Advisor. The ACE Advisor will provide individualized academic and personal support to a cohort of students enrolled in the Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) program at SUNY Brockport. The Advisor plays an essential role in guiding students through their academic journey, helping them navigate challenges, and connecting them with resources to ensure timely graduation.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
- Offers personalized guidance on course selection, academic planning, and progression to ensure students meet their educational goals.
- Assists students in overcoming personal, financial, and academic obstacles by connecting them with appropriate campus and community resources.
- Develops and facilitates workshops on topics such as study skills, time management, career exploration, and financial literacy.
- Tracks student performance, maintains detailed records, and implements interventions as needed to promote student success.
- Works closely with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to coordinate support services and advocate for student needs.
- Participates in the recruitment of new students and assists in orientation sessions to acclimate them to the program.
- Stays informed about best practices in academic advising and student support through ongoing professional development.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree by time of appointment in counseling, education, social work, psychology, or a related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- At least two years of experience in academic advising, counseling, or student services within a higher education setting
- Proficiency in using advising and student management software
- A strong commitment to supporting a diverse student population and enhancing student success
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree by the time of appointment in counseling, educational psychology, social work, higher education administration, or a related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work Schedule:
37.5 hours/week: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm, with occasional evening hours required.
