GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Kirkwood Community College is seeking a part-time Industrial Maintenance Technology faculty member to teach MAT-232 Industrial Math. We are looking for instructors to teach one or both of the following sections:
- M/T/W/Th 12:35 PM - 2:00 PM, 8/25/2025 - 10/17/2025
- T/W/TH 2:00 PM - 2:55 PM, 8/26/25 - 12/12/25

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Effectively organize and teach curriculum in accordance with established and/or developed syllabus for Industrial Math. Curriculum includes the following course outcomes:
- Use mathematical principles such as metric prefixes, conversions, exponents, scientific notation, engineering notation, ratios, proportions, and algebraic expression for AC and DC circuit analysis.
- Apply mathematical principles and notation to hydraulics, pneumatics, and other theories in the physical sciences.
- Apply dimensional analysis to convert units used in industry.
- Calculate area and volume of rectangles, triangles, circles, prisms, and cylinders.
- Use the Pythagorean Theorem and trigonometric ratios to calculate side lengths and angle measures of right triangles.
- Effectively organize and prepare learning activities for course in accordance and established syllabus.
- Evaluate, record, and share student performance and progress on a regular basis and provide students with timely feedback.
- Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
- Perform other related work duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a classroom or lab setting.
- Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
- Be able and willing to represent the college in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.

- Send or submit your course syllabi to the office staff at the beginning of each semester.
- Check rosters to ensure that students in your section are registered for your section.
- Report attendance for financial aid purposes.
- Respond to students and to their work in a civil and timely fashion.
- Report midterm grades and final grades accurately and by the published deadlines.
- Respond to staff and administrative communications about individual students.
- Attend to your Kirkwood email each weekday.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION
Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of specialized training and at least 6,000 hours of hands-on experience in applied math, with a focus on the applications of math in an industrial maintenance setting OR
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a related field or a 4-year registered apprenticeship with a journey-level credential.
- Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the applied math industry.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS
- Experience teaching at the college level.
