Possessing subject matter expertise and engaging in ongoing professional development. Maintaining effective communication within the College and the department or program.

Salary is determined per the SF Salary Schedule. Nursing Programs at Santa Fe College provide quality nursing education that is student-oriented, accessible to a diverse student population, and based on the healthcare needs of our community. Currently, Nursing Programs offers three degree programs including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), as well as the Licensed Practical Nursing to Associate of Science in Nursing Bridge program. Additionally, Nursing Programs offers postsecondary adult vocational courses for Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Practical Nursing which prepare students for better career opportunities. All of the programs within Health Sciences' Nursing Programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). In addition to regional accreditation, the BSN program is accredited nationally by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the ASN by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and the Practical Nursing program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing.

Clinical adjunct and laboratory adjunct positions in nursing are posted year-round. An applicant may not be contacted immediately after submitting their application. Applications are reviewed as program needs are assessed and identified. The majority of adjunct faculty interviews are conducted during the summer months.

Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant develops, prepares and teaches a variety of nursing coursework within a lab setting. Adjunct Faculty are employed on a term-by-term basis and may be assigned teaching duties at SF's main Northwest, as well as numerous clinical sites. Course offerings within Nursing Programs may be taught during the day, evening, as well as taught using other distance learning formats.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan, organize, and deliver nursing instruction in didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.
  • Supervise, evaluate and mentor students in the lab, and clinical settings.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
  • Collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading and student learning outcomes.
  • Proctor exams and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

Reports to: Academic Chair, Nursing Programs

Qualifications

Required: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a current active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license is required. Current clinical experience along with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required. A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: Master's degree. Relevant teaching experience.

General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The Adjunct Assistant must have the ability to deliver a high level of interactive service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the organization, communicate effectively and possess proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications. The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites, as well as demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.
