Job Summary
The Education Program at Barnard College seeks a part-time instructor to teach the following undergraduate courses during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Foundations of Education (EDUC BC1510)
This course provides an introduction to the psychological, philosophical, sociological, and historical foundations of education as way to understand what education is, how education has become what it is, and to envision what education should be. The course meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:10-11:25 am. Pay Rate: $13,250
Arts and Humanities in the City (EDUC BC3055)
Using the theme of "Arts and Humanities in the City", this seminar will build participants' knowledge of critical literacy, digital storytelling methods, and ways to use New York City as a resource for teaching the Arts (Dance, Theatre, Music, and Visual Arts), Social Studies, and English Language Arts in grades K-12. Critical literacy is an approach to teaching and learning that focuses on developing students' abilities to read, analyze, understand, question, and critique hidden perspectives and socially-constructed power relations embedded in what it means to be literate in a content area. This course contains a student fieldwork component. The course meets Thursdays from 10:10 am-12 pm. Pay rate: $13,250
Exact instructional assignments and other academic responsibilities are determined by the Chair or Director.
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications
Advanced degree in a related discipline, with all requirements for the degree completed by the time of hiring offer. Prior experience teaching these or similar content areas at an accredited college or university preferred.
