Job Description

The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach.
Occasional travel may be required.
Job Duties
- The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach. The faculty member is also responsible for scholarly and creative activities (professional development) and service to the college.
- The instructor should be able to teach Medical/Surgical, Psychiatric, and/or OB/Pediatric Nursing. Be able to interact with students to provide opportunities to learn, create conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur.
- Interact with students in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings to provide optimum learning opportunities. Engage students in interactive learning while maintaining control of the class. Provide effective and high quality instruction; competent student advising as needed; assist with evaluating and revising/modifying the curriculum; teach at various clinical agencies as assigned.
- Administer and grade written tests and assignments. Demonstrate required nursing skills in the laboratory and clinical agency settings; critique and eventually evaluate student performance in the laboratory and clinical agency settings.
- Communicate with and listen to students in order to create a positive learning environment.
- Use both verbal and nonverbal communication to assist with student development.
- Must meet criteria of the Colorado State Board of Nursing (SBON) and to maintain career technical certification to teach.
- Teach concepts of nursing education and demonstrate required nursing skills for students.
- Follow Nursing Program Curriculum.
- Demo all skills identified on the nursing skills checklist.
Minimum Qualifications
NUR 1006, 1009, 1012, 1021, 1050, 1069, 1075, 1089, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2030:
Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in nursing* plus 4,000 hours of paid industry experience within the last five years. (*Per Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) 2.1 Standard and Criteria all full-time faculty must hold at least a graduate degree with a major in nursing)

Based on course content, wages will range from $1,297.00 per credit to $3,753.00 per credit.
In certain instances, due to low enrollment, faculty payment will be based on part-time per credit pay and pro-rated on a 10% per student basis.
Part-time employees also receive some benefits depending on the number of hours worked.
