Adjunct Faculty: Physical Education (Health & Human Performance)

The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach.
This exercise professional will be teaching courses related to physical fitness. This position involves teaching group fitness classes and developing fitness programs for lifelong wellness. Some of the duties in this position include but are not limited to, preparing and delivering lectures, developing course content, assessing student learning, and providing academic guidance.
Work hours:
- This position requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate morning, daytime, and evening classes.
Job Duties:
- This exercise professional assumes responsibility for teaching all aspects of the assigned physical fitness classes listed: Health and Wellness, Fitness Concepts, Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Anatomical Kinesiology, Intro to Exercise and Health Sciences, Certified Personal Trainer Prep.
- Instruct high-quality health and human performance classes to Aims Community College students and staff as scheduled.
- Embrace and apply the College's purpose, vision, mission, and commitment to diversity. Clearly explain and demonstrate exercises and equipment.
- Provide modifications tailored to various skill levels.
- Supervise and assist class participants in utilizing equipment.
- Instruct participants on safe equipment usage and intervene in unsafe actions. Address inquiries regarding class content.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills.
- Display effective leadership and organizational abilities.
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of all class participants.
- Promptly address risk management issues as they arise.
- Document all emergencies and injuries accurately and promptly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field (exercise science, health and human performance, exercise physiology, etc.) plus 2,000 hours of related experience plus current Heartsaver CPR certification OR
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (exercise science, health and human performance, exercise physiology, etc.) plus 4,000 hours of related experience plus current Heartsaver CPR certification OR
- Associate degree in a related field (exercise science, health and human performance, exercise physiology, etc.) plus 8,000 hours of related experience plus current Heartsaver CPR certification OR
- A current relevant certification plus 10,000 hours or related experience plus current Heartsaver CPR certification.
- A pre-employment post-offer physical exam will be required of the selected candidate. Physical effort required, including but not limited to lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking.
- Confident and knowledgeable about the course subject matter and technique.
- If applicable, maintain an accredited sport or activity-specific certification or license.
