Adjunct Faculty POOL- Developmental English Writing & Reading (2025-2026 Academic Year)

Walla Walla Community College seeks to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach Developmental English Writing & Reading courses throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. This part-time position offers opportunities to teach at various campuses, including Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, and online.

General Responsibilities: Faculty members facilitate student learning through preparation and delivery of course materials, providing timely feedback, assigning grades, and connecting students to campus resources.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place.
  • Demonstrate professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment.
  • Provide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter.
  • Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions.
  • Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback.
  • Assign and submit grades based on evaluations and college grading policy.
  • Maintain student records and grades in the College's LMS.
  • Post and be available for a minimum of one office hour each week.
  • Maintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculum.
  • Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology.
  • Utilize available technology appropriate to the assignment.

Competencies: Develop essential instructional competencies including student success teaching strategies, outcomes-based learning, assessment, equity, diversity, and inclusion, digital and information literacy, and commitment to continuing education.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in TESOL, Adult Education, Secondary Education, Applied Linguistics, or related field; demonstrated proficiency teaching language development at the pre-college or secondary level (minimum two years); demonstrated commitment to promote equitable access and educational achievement of diverse students. Equivalent combinations may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in a related field; knowledge of Career and College Readiness Standards; experience with multi-level classrooms, instructional technology, various teaching modalities, and working with diverse backgrounds.

Conditions/Terms of Employment: Part-time assignment contingent on enrollment, located at Walla Walla Campus. Must provide documentation of lawful employment and transcripts. Compensation is based on the adjunct salary schedule.
