Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) seeks to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach course offerings throughout the

WWCC offers opportunities for adjunct faculty to teach courses at all of our campuses: Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, as well as online/remotely (please see required qualifications for approved remote states).
Part-time/temporary adjunct faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. WWCC offers a wide range of opportunities in extended learning, dual-credit alternative high school, workplace learning, outreach learning, and personal enrichment programs.
WWCC accepts applications for adjunct faculty positions on a continuous basis, though it does not necessarily imply that there are immediate openings. Applicants who meet the required minimum qualifications and submit a complete application with all required components will become part of the standing pool which the College will draw on as scheduling needs dictate.

Description:Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking a creative and talented instructor focused on student success who has a strong knowledge background to fulfill a temporary role of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Instructor (HVACR) Instructor at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in Connell, WA.
Graduates of the HVACR program will enter the workforce with a knowledge base and solid skill set, making them attractive potential employees for HVAC companies. They will have the necessary skills to recover, evacuate and recharge air conditioning equipment, and safely perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
Essential Responsibilities:- Teach assigned HVACR classes in accordance with WWCC course descriptions and schedule requirements.
Must be able to teach single and three phase electrical including transformers, AC and DC motors.Must have skills to teach electrical equations that requires algebra and trigonometry.Must have knowledge of water flow, air flow, refrigerant flow calculations, and gas laws.Must be able to teach the theory of Heat Pumps, Air Conditioning, and Commercial Refrigeration.Monitor and document student performance based on curriculum requirements and attendance.Collaborate with personnel in the HVACR industry as advisors for the HVACR program and to facilitate job development for students during and after their program of study.Incorporate relevant technology into classroom presentations.Maintain safe work practices, tools, and equipment, keeping environment clean and organizedProvide advising for students.Participate in department and college activities, committees, advisory boards, etc., as appropriate.Competencies

- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and interdisciplinary work.
Required Qualifications: Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college. This is an onsite position; applicants must be willing to relocate.- Five (5) years of recent work experience in refrigeration and air conditioning required; Two (2) year-degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning may substitute for two years of work experience.
- EPA Refrigerant Handling and Low Voltage Electrical certification required.
- Previous supervisory experience.
Desired Qualifications:- Associate degree in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration desired.
- Previous teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level, correctional facility, industrial, corporate, and/or workplace setting desired.

Conditions/Terms of Employment
This is a part-time instruction assignment contingent on enrollment and located inside the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, an adult male prison. This position interacts daily with students (incarcerated individuals), instructors, counselors, DOC, and WWCC staff. Successful candidate must have the ability to travel between buildings with or without accommodations. Coyote Ridge Corrections Center is fully ADA compliant. The campus is tobacco free institution.
Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful employment to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and provide transcripts. WWCC participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. All Walla Walla Community College staff members employed at one of the Correction Education facilities must be cleared by an FBI background check before being hired into such positions and successfully complete a 3-week corrections training program. Information from the background check may not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
Department of Correction positions are grant funded and funding is not guaranteed. Upon loss of grant funding, the position will end. WWCC does not absorb the cost to fund DOC grant positions. CompensationCompensation for an adjunct assistant professor is contingent on enrollment and paid in accordance with the contract between the WWCC Board of Trustees and the WWCC Association for Higher Education. found on the
