Adjunct Instructor Art History - Studio

We are seeking an individual to advance excellence in academics, student life, and community service. This role involves teaching art history and studio courses, providing expertise to support the college curriculum, and engaging in activities that encourage student learning.

Summary

Establish courses following higher education standards, teach using effective methodologies, and provide academic advising, professional development, and institutional service. Teach the maximum load of equated hours in areas of competency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate skill and knowledge in the teaching discipline.
• Improve instruction quality by utilizing innovative methodologies and techniques.
• Develop and use syllabi within college guidelines.
• Use various teaching methods appropriate for diverse student backgrounds.
• Evaluate student progress and maintain accurate records.
• Review and recommend textbooks and materials.
• Teach at various times and locations as needed.
• Use technology in the classroom and assist with lab maintenance.
• Maintain professional relationships and provide academic advising.
• Create presentations on academic fields and opportunities.
• Establish objectives for professional growth and participate in evaluations.
• Participate in institutional service activities and committees.
• Adhere to policies and assist in program accreditation.

Qualifications

Must have completed at least eighteen graduate hours in Art History and hold a Master’s degree; Master of Fine Arts or Master’s in Art History preferred. College-level teaching experience and a professional exhibition record are preferred. Requires knowledge of computer usage, excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
