Adjunct Instructor, Coaching Theory (Various Sports)

Job Description

St. Cloud State University is seeking applications for potential adjunct instructors who qualify to teach in the College of Health and Wellness Professions-Department of Kinesiology, Community Health, and Gerontology.

The department requests applications for part-time adjunct instructors to teach various theory of coaching courses as a subject matter related to their discipline. Courses will include hybrid delivery method.

Courses may include, but are not limited to: Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball, Wrestling.

This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments’ access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).

Compensation is per credit, the current credit rate is a minimum of $1819 per credit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters in Recreation, Sport Management, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Elementary or Secondary Education Teaching degree, or closely related professional field
  • Experience with coaching sport either at the collegiate, high-school, youth, elite club level, or recognized organization national program
  • Current coaching certification by either the state high school league, USA coaching, or appropriate credentials from the coaching league in which they are currently coaching
  • Demonstrate three years of head coaching experience and/or five years of coaching experiences (head/assistant)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the game
  • Demonstrate ability to teach sport strategy, player development, and ethical sport behavior
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Commitment to university and student engagement, mentoring, and student success
  • Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualification

  • Teaching related to coaching clinics or instructional lessons with collegiate, high school, or USA coaching levels
  • Demonstrate teaching and/or coaching at the high school or collegiate level
  • Use of technology in sport coaching instruction
  • Demonstrate use of technology in teaching courses blended/hybrid, asynchronous, or synchronous formats
  • Availability weekdays, evenings, and online
  • CPR/AED, First Aid certification
