Job Overview
Founded in 1973, the MS in Cosmetic Science is globally recognized as one of the country’s oldest cosmetic science graduate programs. Our innovative programs help prepare students today to gain knowledge of cosmetic science that help them develop as industry leaders for tomorrow.
UC’s online Cosmetic Science program offers both a Graduate Certificate and a Hygienic Manufacturing of Cosmetic Products Graduate Certificate with a nationally acclaimed Master of Science in Cosmetic Science Degree. The MS in Cosmetic Science is the most comprehensive program in the field and is led by renowned faculty with corporate and academic experience, expertise, and practical application.
Qualified individuals are invited to apply to be included in the general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming academic term (as needed). Appointments are renewed based on departmental need and teaching experience. Classes may be day or evening. Rank and compensation are based on experience and academic credentials.
Essential Functions
- On a part-time basis, conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars.
- May serve as an academic advisor for students and evaluate student coursework.
- Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of responsibilities.
- Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related fields required, along with significant experience in areas such as cosmetic formulation science, cosmetic bio-substrate science, clinical, consumer, and safety assessment of cosmetic products, and regulatory and toxicology aspects of cosmetic ingredients. Individuals should have in-depth understanding of physicochemical principles that facilitate the creation, testing and evaluation of cosmetic products.
Preference will be given to individuals with significant experience including industrial experience in the above areas.
Required Education
- Academic degree in an appropriate disciple and prior teaching experience.
Required Experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
- Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
