Adjunct Instructor- Health Sciences Continuing Education (Pool)
Job Summary
This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction for non-credit courses using integrative technologies.
The adjunct instructor works under the supervision of the Director of Center of Emphasis, Health Sciences Continuing Education. The adjunct instructor is responsible for the effective communication of course related information to students using various and participative instructional strategies. Provides quality delivery of assigned coursework and laboratory activities.
Job Duties
Teach courses via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities, as assigned. Teach day, evening, weekend, off-campus, distance-based courses, as required. Comply with course syllabus content and outcomes and update department syllabus, as necessary, at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract. Regularly check VSCC email and departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend. Submit final grades for each course by the deadline established by the department. Complete required College training annually, and training as assigned related to new equipment. Complete all required reports such as progress reports, grade submissions, attendance records, as well as administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Communicate with the department director as soon as possible if one is unable to teach a class. Attend meetings as required. Comply with all the College's and Tennessee Board of Regents' (TBR) policies and guidelines, as well as American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center Policies and Procedures. AHA Instructors must be aligned with Volunteer State Community College AHA Training center and deliver courses on site at any VSCC campus or off site, as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires High School Diploma or equivalent. Six months teaching experience or working in a health-related field. Appropriate formal education and valid industry credential(s) specific to the course(s) being taught. Other combination of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in a health care related field. Community college experience. Experience as a health care educator in a medical facility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and/or experience in the subject area and skills in the use of a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in relevant Microsoft Office applications.
