Adjunct Instructor in Chemistry

The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Lincoln Memorial University is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach within the undergraduate program. This instructor will be responsible to teach General Chemistry I or 2 (for majors) and/or Introductory Chemistry (for non-majors) lecture and/or laboratories on the undergraduate campus in Harrogate, TN. The Adjunct Instructor of Chemistry reports directly to the Department of Biology and Chemistry Chair.

Required Qualifications

• Masters degree in Chemistry or relevant discipline

• Undergraduate teaching experience

Job Duties

• Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large
• promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
• work as part of a team of instructors to articulate student learning outcomes for the CHEM 100, 111, and 112 lecture and laboratory experiences as assigned
• work as part of a team of instructors to organize and deliver appropriate laboratory experiences to complement CHEM 100, 111, and 112 lectures; promote the development of student knowledge and skills related to discovery science in the laboratory
• work as part of a team of instructors to define and administor objective and project-level assessments of students learning
• grade objective exams, assignments, and quizzes
• ensure that every laboratory student has received, understood, and signed the Lab Safety Rules Sheet associated with each lab section
• upload materials into and administor assignments including exams and quizzes in Canvas
• enter grades in the Canvas grade book in a timely manner
• enter 4-week, midterm, and final grades in WebAdvisor
• help maintain accurate and accountable records
• provide course and classroom conduct as outlined in the Faculty/Staff PolicyManual
• comply with the university Faculty/Staff Policy Manual
• perform other duties as assigned related to instruction of undergraduate students.
