JOB TITLE: Adjunct Instructor – Photography

DEPARTMENT: Art

STATUS: This is a temporary, non-benefit eligible position and employment is determined on a course by course contract basis.

PAY RANGE: Pay is determined by the number and type of credits taught.

FLSA: Exempt

SUMMARY FVCC seeks applications for adjunct instructors to teach on-campus, face-to-face courses in photography as needed beginning fall semester 2024. Teaching assignments may include alternative delivery methods, day, and/or evening classes. Potential course topics: darkroom skills, black and white photography, digital photography, and Photoshop and Lightroom. Must be able to work collegially in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Teaches all course as assigned, including preparing instructional materials as needed for both online and face-to-face instruction.
  • Expert in Adobe Suite products, specifically Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Meets all classes as scheduled promptly and uses time effectively and appropriately.
  • Demonstrates a professional compassion, commitment and attitude that promotes student growth and learning.
  • Conveys knowledge of the subject area in an effective manner for successful student learning outcomes.
  • Fosters positive student and community relations.
  • Maintains and submits accurate instructional records in accordance with requirements.
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Works professionally with college faculty and staff.
  • Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignment.
  • Attends meetings and participates in student and/or program assessment as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The Montana Board of Regents of Higher Education Policy 730 requires the following minimum qualifications for faculty in transfer programs/disciplines: Masters degree in a type of creative art (MFA), photography preferred, OR Masters degree in a closely related academic discipline with at least nine graduate semester credits in photography.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching in a secondary, post-secondary or higher education environment.
  • Experience using online learning management systems.
  • Experience in differentiated instruction for diverse student populations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Content expert in assigned course curriculum.
  • Ability to effectively teach assigned content.
  • Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the college by supporting the college mission and interacting appropriately with the community.
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC.
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships.
  • Ability to follow and issue instructions.
  • Demonstrated communication, presentation, instructional, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to perform a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
