The Girard School of Business at Merrimack College has openings for Undergraduate courses
for Managerial Finance and Introduction to Fintech for the Fall 2026 semester. Undergraduate courses:
- Managerial Finance
(FIN2500) Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:00 AM - 9:15 AM - in person - Managerial Finance (FIN2500) Monday/Wednesday/Friday 11:30 AM -
12:45 PM - in person - Financial Planning (FIN4435) Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9:45 AM - 11:00 AM - in person
Courses start
on August 31st and will run through December 18th 2026. The course is in-person, on-campus for all scheduled classes and all interested
applicants must be able to deliver the course in this modality.
Course descriptions:
Managerial Finance
(FIN2500): This course introduces the basics of finance. The goal is to provide a comfortable level of understanding of corporate
finance and financial markets and securities for all business majors. The course will develop the financial skills and knowledge that will
help them interact with the other functions of the firm to make good managerial decisions. The main topics included in the course are
outlined under five main areas: (1) financial markets and institutions in a global environment; (2) financial ratios, budgeting, a firm's
pro forma financial statements, and cash flows determining firm value; (3) time value of money tools and concepts (compounding, discounting,
annuities, and perpetuities); (4) relationship between risk and return; and (5) the basics of bond and stock valuation. This course is
in-person, on-campus and all interested applicants must be able to deliver the course in this modality.
Financial Planning
(FIN4435): This course is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the financial planning profession and for those
wishing to learn how to manage their own financial affairs and make wise financial decisions. The course provides students with the
knowledge, skills and competence necessary to make and advise on individual financial planning decisions such as risk management and
insurance, retirement, tax, education, and large purchase planning. Students will have a solid understanding of the personal financial
planning process and the use of quantitative and qualitative tools to measure financial well-being, manage liquidity, debt and credit, and
estimate insurance and retirement needs. Students will also learn communication and counseling strategies and techniques found to be
effective in personal and professional interactions. Finally, students will learn insights from the consumer behavior and behavioral finance
fields that will help guide their clients, and their own, financial planning processes.
Qualifications:
- Master's
degree in business or related area, Ph. D. preferred. College teaching experience is preferred, although related work experience may be
considered.

Compensation
Minimum: $5,000 per 4-credit course
Minimum: $3,750 per lab section
The
actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and
prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
