"Adjunct Lecturer or Adjunct Assistant Professor – English Department"

The Department of English at Bronx Community College is seeking to hire Adjunct faculty at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor to primarily teach ESL and/or composition courses with a focus on academic writing in the fall 2025 semester. Preference will be given to applicants who have strong credentials and teaching experience in Academic Literacy and, for ESL instructors, in TESOL. The ability to teach credit bearing first-year writing courses in a classroom setting that serves both native and non-native English speakers would be an asset.

Performs teaching in area(s) of expertise; please note that most opportunities will be for in-person teaching but background in teaching in online modalities is also expected.

Day, Evening, Saturday, and Sunday teaching may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Adjunct Assistant Professor: An earned doctorate in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Language and Literacy, English, Composition and Rhetoric, or a related field is required, as is the ability to teach successfully in various instructional modalities.

For Adjunct Lecturer: Masters degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Language and Literacy, English, Composition and Rhetoric, or a related field is required, as is the ability to teach successfully in various instructional modalities.

Also required for all titles, is the ability to teach successfully and minimum of one year of college teaching experience.

COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

For Adjunct Lecturer: $97.25 - $104.39/hour

For Adjunct Assistant Professor: $106.09 - $112.89
