Teaching Assistant Professor
The Department of English & Comparative Literature at UNC-Chapel Hill invites applications for a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor with expertise in rhetoric and composition. Qualified candidates will demonstrate evidence of strong teaching of college composition and the ability to contribute to a concentration in writing, editing, and digital publishing as well as to a minor in composition, rhetoric, and digital literacy. The standard teaching load is six courses annually (3 sections per semester) at the undergraduate level. Primary teaching responsibilities consist of first-year writing courses, including a range of discipline-focused first-year composition sections. First-year writing course assignments can be augmented with additional courses in rhetoric and composition or in affiliated areas. The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to course development, program design, student mentoring, and other aspects of department life. This position comes with full benefits and retirement. The initial hire will be a three-year appointment with the possibility of renewal.
