Adjunct Piano Faculty

Salary: Starting at $40/hr for private lessons, $50/hr for group classes
The Peabody Preparatory is pleased to announce an adjunct Piano Faculty position in the Piano Department at the Peabody Preparatory, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. Adjunct status is a maximum of 9.5 hours of teaching. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled and dedicated piano faculty as part of a vibrant and active department committed to helping students of all levels achieve their potential. We embrace the novice musician as well as the serious student aspiring toward a career in music.
Ideal candidates should be experienced in teaching students of all ages and levels (children to adults, beginner to advanced) as part of the Peabody Preparatory's Piano Department. Candidates should be comfortable teaching private piano lessons and small group classes to children as well as adult learners. Additional opportunities to develop classes and workshops according to candidate experience and interest may be available.
We are actively seeking instructors for our Park School Campus, located at 2425 Old Court Road Baltimore, MD 21208. Teaching at other campus locations in addition to Park School may be a possibility. Teachers set their own teaching schedules (subject to space availability), but after-school and/or Saturday hours will be required to meet student needs.
Duties:
- Teach private piano lessons to students aged 5 years and older, including adults, at all skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced levels during the fall and spring semesters (32 weeks).
- Additional teaching opportunities are available during the summer (6-8 weeks).
- Participate in and assist with end-of-semester performances and exams.
- Attend periodic faculty meetings.
- Other appropriate assignments by agreement (e.g., group piano, summer programs).
- Opportunities may be available for the candidate to develop classes and workshops according to their experience and interest.

Qualifications
- Master's degree in piano performance and/or pedagogy is required.
- Doctorate degree or equivalent experience and training is highly preferred.
- Documented successful teaching experience required.
- Documented successful performing experience encouraged.
