About the role
The School of Archaeology is looking to recruit an Administrative Assistant who will be responsible for supporting the project New Bantu Mosaics, selected by the European Research Council (ERC) but funded by UKRI. The project brings together researchers in the UK and Africa and will provide new perspectives on Bantu expansions and developments in southern Africa. The role is part-time at 0.2 FTE (1 day per week) and fixed-term until 31 August 2029.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI) for the project, Professor Shadreck Chirikure, the post holder will arrange and organise project meetings, fieldwork and equipment purchases; run reports as required by the PI and project team; assist in drafting written reports, and provide general administrative support for the PI.
About you
You will be able to demonstrate attention to detail and a high level of accuracy; have the ability to draft correspondence and assist in the production of well-presented reports; have excellent computer skills and a high standard of numeracy; and have the ability to work as part of a team and manage and prioritise a busy and varied workload.
You will have experience of working on confidential material and be able to exercise tact and discretion in correspondence and interactions with colleagues and external stakeholders.
