Why Your Role Matters:

The Administrator plays a key role in coordinating and managing the general administration of the HowWeSurvive project within the School of Built Environment.

HowWeSurvive is a long-term initiative focused on improving how disaster recovery is understood and delivered, with an emphasis on community-centred approaches. Through research, education, advocacy and collaboration, the project works with communities, partners and government to strengthen recovery and resilience practices and support more effective, locally informed responses to disasters.

This role ensures efficient operation of systems, contracts and financial processes, while supporting project activities and events. The position works closely with stakeholders across the School and contributes to the effective delivery of project initiatives.

The role reports to the Professor of the HowWeSurvive Project and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage administrative processes and reporting systems
  • Develop and maintain procedures, providing advice on administrative practices
  • Monitor workflows and provide guidance to administrative staff as required
  • Support implementation and application of policies and procedures
  • Oversee financial administration including purchasing, travel, reimbursements and billing
  • Support delivery of projects, initiatives and events
  • Ensure accurate processing of financial transactions and budget monitoring

Skills and Experience Summary:

  • Relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Highly advanced interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks.
  • Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to understand and communicate financial information and monitor budgets.
