POSITION DETAILS
Reporting directly to the Admissions Specialist, in addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Admissions Advisor will be responsible for the following duties:
- Maintain a working knowledge of all Hunter College programs and opportunities and be able to relay this information to prospective students and families in a friendly and coherent manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work across both admissions operations and recruitment functions, including application processing, applicant communications, and student outreach.
- Provide support in recruiting prospective students and families by representing Hunter College at both on and off campus events. Contribute to the planning and implementation of all on-campus recruitment events and proactively monitor a recruitment territory to meet institutional enrollment goals.
- Conduct on-campus information sessions and serves as in-house admissions counselor for prospective students and families visiting the admissions office.
- Provide clear communication and effectively execute all admission operations procedures including application processing and review, New York State residency review, transfer credit evaluation, and other enrollment related processes.
- Make data-informed decisions utilizing a CRM, institutional data, and current trends in higher education.
- Seek and retain knowledge of best industry practices in undergraduate admissions and recruitment and apply this knowledge to everyday duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain admissions policies and procedures clearly to diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and high application volume.
- Demonstrated commitment to student access, equity, and supporting diverse populations.
- Experience working with student information systems or CRM platforms (e.g., Slate, PeopleSoft/CUNYfirst,
- Experience in undergraduate admissions or recruitment is a plus.
- Familiarity with transcript evaluation, application review, and admissions decisioning.
- Experience working with first-generation, transfer, international, or underrepresented students.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for recruitment events.
- Multilingual proficiency

Coordinates and contributes to student recruiting activities.
- Conducts open house sessions and orientations to ensure applicants are fully informed of requirements and processes
- Assists in direct recruiting at high schools, community outreach events, and other appropriate locations
- Provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, email, or letter
- Maintains current information about College programs and degree requirements
