The Department of Psychology at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Psychology with a specialty in developmental psychology.
The Department prepares students: (1) for advanced study in the social and health sciences, and (2) to become members of the behavioral health workforce. The department also maintains the Psychological Services Center, a clinic that provides low-cost mental health services to campus and community members. The department strives to offer degree and certificate programs that meet the needs of the state of Alaska. With more than 400 students and 15 faculty members, the UAA Psychology Department is Alaska’s largest center for the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Candidate will 1) Teach undergraduate and graduate classes both online and on-campus; 2) Have strong interpersonal and communication skills; 3) Have knowledge of contemporary curricular content for developmental psychology; 4) Build relationships with community and campus partners; 5) Establish an independent research program that will build on and add to existing community partnerships; 6) Pursue and secure external funding; 7) Mentor students in research.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology or related field
- Documented record of research and publication or demonstrated potential for research and publication
- Documented college-level teaching experience both online and in the classroom.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, faculty time off (FTO), 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience.
