Aircraft Maintenance Training Hangar Manager

The Aircraft Maintenance Training (AMT) Hangar Manager position is responsible for hangar operations management, safety and compliance, and inventory/logistics management. This staff position oversees the daily operations and maintenance of aviation maintenance training equipment, aviation maintenance program aircraft and aircraft hangars to ensure a safe, efficient, and organized environment for aircraft storage and servicing. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operations of the hangar and associated training equipment, managing resources effectively, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The AMT Program Hangar Manager will work closely with the AMT staff and faculty to support operational goals, address issues promptly, and implement best practices for hangar management.
The AMT Hangar Manager coordinates with staff and faculty to maintain a safe and compliant educational environment, while also overseeing the inventory of parts and tools, scheduling maintenance activities, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements set by the FAA and other governing bodies. This position is also responsible for implementing safety protocols, ensuring the hangar meets all facility and safety standards, and working to continuously improve maintenance procedures and operational efficiency. Strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of aviation maintenance practices are essential to ensure the smooth functioning of the hangar and the professional development of students entering the aviation industry.
Hangar Operations Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the A&P hangar, including budget.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Manage the AMTC hangar facility to ensure it is in a safe and clean condition for daily use.
- Maintain and/or oversee repair of all lab equipment, identify need and initiate procurement process for equipment replacement as required.
- Develop and manage hangar workflows and ensure efficient use of space and resources.
- Management of hazmat waste and combustibles.
Inventory & Logistics Management:
- Maintain the proper inventory of tools, equipment, and parts.
- Audit and maintain inventory of all lab equipment, tools, toolboxes, and tool crib inventory while ensuring equipment is in safe operating condition and is in calibration as required by the manufacturer.
- Coordinate procurement of supplies, tools, equipment, and parts needed for instructional and maintenance purposes.
- Monitor and maintain (minimum levels) of all project consumables and assist with procurement process for consumables.
- Assist in the preparation of lab projects (materials, tools, equipment, technical data and documentation) for each course project as directed by AMT Instructors.
Safety & Compliance:
- Create and enforce safety protocols to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (FAA or equivalent).
- Conduct safety drills and maintain emergency preparedness plans.
- Conduct safety briefings and workshops related to hangar operations.
- Work cooperatively with other internal departments and external entities in maintaining a safe and secure hangar environment that meets all compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience with aircraft maintenance, aircraft operations, aircraft manufacturing, or military aviation, shop/equipment management and repair, tooling, parts, supply management and ordering, or asset organization and management or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
- Experience with Forklift, Pallet Jack, and other moving equipment. Will require a safety certification for Forklift so must be certified or have the ability to become certified within sixty (60) days of hire.
- Computer literacy and the ability to use computer technology
- A positive attitude and commitment to working in a multicultural academic setting
- This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.

Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Part 65 Airframe and Powerplant Certificate OR JSAMTCC (Joint Service Aviation Maintenance Technician Certification Council) Military Certificate or equivalent
- Associate Degree of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance or another related field
- Planning and Organization: Developing maintenance schedules, allocating resources, and coordinating maintenance activities.
- Team Leadership: Supervising, training, and motivating a team of aircraft mechanics.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Addressing aircraft malfunctions and ensuring proper repairs are made.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.
- Communication: Communicating effectively with pilots, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Technical Expertise: Possessing a strong understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and regulations.
- Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Effectively managing a team and collaborating with others.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in aircraft maintenance and repair techniques.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Identifying and resolving maintenance-related issues.
- Communication Skills: Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Organizational and Planning Skills: Managing schedules and resources effectively.
- Knowledge of Regulations and Standards: Understanding and adhering to FAA regulations and other industry standards.
- Valid US Passport for Airport badging purposes
