Reporting to the Dean of Student Services, Counseling at Fresno City College; it will cover a full range of counseling responsibilities in the Health Sciences division including academic, career and personal counseling with individuals and groups in addition to teaching discipline specific courses. ...

• Providing comprehensive counseling services for students including academic, career, personal and life transitions counseling on an appointment basis;
• Providing group counseling sessions, orientations, and workshops;
• Assisting students in clarifying their educational goals, selection of courses, and developing Student Educational Plans (SEPs);
• Monitoring student progress through comprehensive electronic data systems;
• Maintaining close working relationships with program and other instructional faculty, feeder high schools, and community resources agencies;
• Working with a diverse population of students to emphasize strategies for educational planning and transfer preparation;
• Collaborating with instructional and counseling faculty, staff from other departments and programs ...;
• Utilizing and keeping abreast of advanced counseling methods and student development theories ...;
• Providing counseling support specific to the needs of students on academic probation or disqualification;
• Conducting intake interviews, assessment interpretation, and use of multiple measures ...;
• Participating in the implementation of transfer and matriculation activities;
• Participating in outreach activities in the community and on campus;
• Utilizing and interpreting a variety of career assessment tools;
• Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed;
• Participating in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment ...;
• Providing services in a variety of settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, on-line or off-campus as needed;

Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students ...; and

• Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling; or
• A valid California Community College Credential; or
• The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Salary and Benefits:

Starting annual salary is $71,054 - $108,772 based on education and experience. *Duty days will be prorated based upon start of assignment.* An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available.
