10-Month Tenure Track Position
COMPENSATION:
Initial salary placement ranges from $67,886 to $106,308, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $142,425. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. BASIC FUNCTIONS
The teaching assignment may include (but is not limited to) classes in the following areas: Application and utilization of the patient's care delivery application in the long-term care facilities, home health, acute care facilities as nursing assistant, home health aide, and as supportive healthcare provider at various clinics.
Representative Duties
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This assignment includes (but is not limited to) the following:
- Fulfill assigned lectures, clinical load every semester as assigned by the Director of Nursing and Allied Health.
- Teaching in theory, skills, simulation, and clinical areas in an Allied Health Program utilizing a team-teaching approach.
- Develop and utilize materials for enhancement of student learning and faculty teaching within the changing healthcare environment.
- Assignments may include evening, weekend, and nights.
- Perform professional tasks related to areas of assignment, particularly in student advisement, curriculum design and evaluation, program review and other assigned tasks as required, ensuring the forward direction of the Allied Health Program, as well as service benefiting the college, the community, and the profession.
- Remain current in the subject matter in the techniques of effective culturally responsive instruction.
- Provide academic remediation resources for at-risk students.
- Provide demonstration, technical instructional assistance, and remediation to allied health students in practicing and refining performance of clinical skills in clinical laboratory classes, open lab time, and by individual appointments.
- Perform other assigned tasks for the benefit of the college, the community, and the profession.
- Participate in department and school meetings.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students and colleagues.
- Train assigned student/short term workers, assign duties as appropriate, and review work for compliance with established procedures, policies requirements and standards.
- Participate in course and curriculum design and development, student advisement, program review, and district college school committees as required to maintain and improve the skills lab.
- Coordinate schedules with nursing faculty and department.
- Participate in department and school meetings.
- Participate in assessment, evaluation and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, Curriculum Development.
- Evidence of interest in teaching students in the diverse multicultural community college setting.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Active California Registered Nursing License AND Bachelor's in Nursing.
Master's in nursing education, health education, or Health Science preferred.
One (1) year full-time (2000 hours) of RN experience providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting within the last 7 years.
Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education (CE) in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (submit course certificate or transcript) completed within six (6) months prior to teaching or training for a certification program. Courses must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution.
Be familiar with CDHP rules and regulations for CNA and HHA training.
Additional duties as required to maintain programs California Department of Public Health (CDPH) approval and compliance with HHA/ACNA Training Program State & Federal Regulations - CA Title 22 and Federal Title 42. (https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CHCQ/LCP/Pages/TPRU.aspx).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those candidates who establish the highest level of professional competency in the following:
At least one (1) year of experience teaching courses in an Allied Health as CNA, HHA, ACNA programs within the last five (5) years.

- Knowledge of developing course syllabi
- Knowledge of fostering inclusive environments for student learning
- Knowledge of integrating accessible practices into course design and teaching strategies
- Knowledge and ability to teach and support students across multiple modalities including, online, hybrid, remote, HyFlex, and correspondence while maintaining engagement and accessibility.
- Knowledge and ability to maintain compliance with all third-party accrediting bodies by keeping required credentials, certifications, and regulatory standards current when applicable.
- Ability to work effectively in person through clear communication, collaboration, and adaptability in diverse professional settings.
- Demonstrated ability to remain current in ones discipline through ongoing professional development, research, and engagement with emerging trends and best practices.
- Ability to use advanced technology in the classroom
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to use Canvas or other LMS platforms
- Ability to interact with others (faculty, staff, students, administration)
