Job Description
Virginia Tech seeks applicants for the position of Study Abroad Application & Systems Coordinator in the Global Education Office. This position is a full-time, in-person, staff role with benefits.
This position provides high-quality, student- and faculty-centered support by guiding and coordinating the study abroad application process. The Study Abroad Application & Systems Coordinator is a key international education professional who combines strong customer service, systems administration, and data reporting skills to support a streamlined experience for students, faculty, and staff. The role serves as the primary Terra Dotta Software for Study Abroad administrator for the Global Education Office team, manages day-to-day administrative tasks within the software platform, and is the main point of contact for users of the platform. Additionally, the position will serve as the data manager and facilitate data collection, reporting and analytics efforts to expand study abroad access and capacity.

- Advising & Student Support: Ability to deliver responsive, inclusive, and culturally informed service
- Technology & Data Literacy: Comfort managing higher education student information systems, workflows, and datasets to inform decision-making
- Ethical Practice & Risk Awareness: Understanding of responsible data use, privacy, and international education compliance
- Collaboration & Communication: Ability to deliver workshops, support faculty/staff and student services, and serve as an ambassador for global education
- Continuous Improvement: Interest in optimizing systems, processes, and user experience to expand access to global learning
Required Qualifications
- Professional experience in international education, higher education, or a related student services environment, with demonstrated responsibility for student-facing or administrative processes
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities independently with strong attention to detail in a systems- or process-driven environment
- Demonstrated customer-service and communication skills, including effective interpersonal communication with diverse audiences (students, faculty, staff, and partners), and texperience navigating sensitive or complex situations with cultural awareness and professionalism
- Demonstrated data literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel or comparable tools (e.g., pivot tables, charts, formulas), and experience using data to support reporting, decision-making, compliance, or process improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to a positive office culture, and support shared goals
- Demonstrated experience supervising, training, or mentoring others (e.g., student employees, interns, or peer staff) with professionalism and empathy
- Experience using Terra Dotta or comparable systems (e.g., Slate, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, or other CRM/application platforms) in an administrative or systems-support capacity
- Demonstrated experience with database or system administration, including workflow configuration, user permissions, data integrity, or process optimization
- Demonstrated experience producing regular or ad hoc reports for internal or external stakeholders, including presenting data in clear tables, summaries, or basic visual formats
- Experience supporting process-oriented student services, such as applications, onboarding, compliance tracking, advising workflows, or communications management
