History of Bakersfield College:
Bakersfield College is located in Bakersfield, California, in the heart of the Central Valley. Established in 1913, Bakersfield College is one of the nation's oldest continually operating community colleges. The college serves 33,000 students annually on the 153-acre main campus in northeast Bakersfield, at the Delano Campus (35 miles north of Bakersfield), the Weill Institute (downtown Bakersfield), and BC South-West (southwest Bakersfield). The Architecture and Architectural Drafting program at Bakersfield College prepares students for entry-level employment and further study by integrating design fundamentals with technical drafting skills. Faculty teach courses in architectural design principles, building systems and construction technology, materials and methods, and applicable building codes and regulations. Instruction also includes architectural computer-aided drafting (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM), with an emphasis on producing industry-standard drawings and documentation.

Faculty are expected to deliver both lecture and lab-based instruction, guide students through design and drafting projects, and support the development of technical accuracy, visual communication, and professional standards.

Graduates of the program gain practical, hands-on experience that prepares them for entry-level positions in architectural offices, construction-related firms, and design-oriented fields, or for continued education. Instructors play a key role in assessing student work, maintaining current industry practices, and aligning curriculum with workforce and transfer requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree(s) or higher and two years of professional experience
OR -
Associate degree(s) and six years of professional experience.

*(The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree.)*
OR - The equivalent.
Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. $ 89,080.98 - $ 116,884.82 annually

Maximum Placement Level Salary: $ 116,884.82 annually
