Art Lab Assistant
Job Description
Position Summary
: Under general supervision of assigned supervisor, assists faculty by working with students individually or in groups in the improvement of academic knowledge and technical skill, and does related work as required.
Typical Duties
: Performs support for the painting and drawing courses in the studio art program; maintains inventory of art supplies, tools, and chemicals; assists students and faculty in the set up and clean-up of Art lab spaces including proper and safe operation of all lab equipment; assists the Department Chair, faculty, and staff in preparing programs and materials; and assists in maintaining organization of the Art Resource Room. Uses a computer for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications and participates in the operation of two dimensional and digital laboratories and portfolio classes and performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
: EXPERIENCE: One year of tutoring, instructional or work experience related to two-dimensional art laboratories, gallery and portfolio art classes.
EDUCATION: Completion of an Associates Degree in Art or 60 semester units (90 quarter units) with 18 units in art courses.

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: One year of education is equal to 30 semester units.)
Education must be from an accredited institution.
