Assessment Technologist
About the Opportunity
The Office of Institutional Assessment and Evaluation (OIAE) at Northeastern University (NU) seeks a motivated, self-starting individual to join our dynamic team as an Assessment Technologist (Half-Time). The successful candidate will help faculty connect their teaching, learning and student assessment practices utilizing primarily the HelioCampus assessment management platform and the Canvas LMS (Learning Management System).
Responsibilities
Faculty Engagement
- Provide one-on-one and group consultations to link faculty course assignments to student outcomes, primarily using the HelioCampus-Canvas integration.
- Develop proactive strategies to engage faculty in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Track faculty and staff consultations and use of HelioCampus.
- Support faculty and staff questions on best practices about assessment methods and tools.
- Co-facilitate the HelioCampus Community of Practice.
Documentation/Training
- Create and maintain multimedia knowledge base documentation for HelioCampus and Canvas integration.
- Create user-friendly guides and resources to support faculty use of HelioCampus.
- Develop, present, and maintain training sessions and workshops.
Assessment Technology
- Serve as a technical resource for HelioCampus and Canvas.
- Serve as a liaison with Academic Technology.
- Support vendor relationships with HelioCampus.
- Assist with testing, planning, and implementation of the assessment management system.
- Troubleshoot technical issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in instructional technology, educational technology, information systems or related fields.
- Proficiency with common educational technology assessment tools (Canvas Quizzes, Assignments, Canvas Rubrics, Gradescope).
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work with vendor contacts and support systems.
- Demonstrated strong writing skills.
- Self-starter, with a proven track record for creativity and initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience supporting academic technologies, instructional design, and/or course development experience in a higher education environment.
- M.S. degree in educational technology, instructional design, or related field.
- Experience with the assessment of student learning outcomes, including any assessment software.
This is a half-time (20 hours/week) hybrid position, scheduled to be on campus (Boston) weekly.
