Essential Job Duties: The Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University invites applications for a tenure/tenure-track or professional track position in Nutrition at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The successful candidate will provide nutritional consults and clinical service, contribute to teaching, train house officers and graduate students, and engage in research related to animal nutrition. This position will synergize with the emergency and critical care, small animal internal medicine, and/or gastroenterology groups.
The incumbent will oversee nutrition clinical case management, provide high-quality clinical and pre-clinical teaching, demonstrate research productivity through external funding and peer-reviewed publications, and participate in committees. Professional track faculty focus primarily on clinical service with some research, while tenure-track faculty develop an independent research program in nutrition sciences.
Collaborative opportunities exist within NC State University, including the Comparative Medicine Institute, and externally with the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease, UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, Wake Forest University, and industry. Rank is based on qualifications.
Minimum Experience/Education: A DVM or equivalent degree and residency training in Veterinary Nutrition (ACVIM or European Equivalent) are required.
Required Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work in a team atmosphere. Aptitude for teaching and mentoring veterinary students and residents.
Preferred Qualifications: Diplomate Status, PhD, Boarded in a second specialty.
Required License or Certification: Candidates must meet requirements for a North Carolina veterinary license or North Carolina Faculty certificate.
