Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Computational Biophysics & Biochemistry

Job Details

The Department of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry (http://mbb.yale.edu/) at Yale University invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty appointment in Computational Biophysics and Biochemistry. This opportunity is available at all ranks, including Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor. This search will focus on candidates with innovative computational research programs that will advance our understanding of biomolecular and cellular processes. The Department, which is administered both by the Yale Faculty of Arts & Sciences and the Yale School of Medicine, pursues a broad range of basic and applied research topics that contribute both to the undergraduate teaching and medical research missions of the University. Priority will be given to candidates with research areas outlined in the University-Wide Science Strategic Plan and the Yale School of Medicine Research Strategic Planning.

Research could involve purely computational approaches, or blend computation with wet bench research. The Department is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, service, and interactions with other departments featuring computational methods, will contribute to the excellence of the academic community across multiple dimensions.

Qualifications

Applicants must have met the requirements for a PhD or equivalent degree at time of hire in computational biophysics and biochemistry or a related field. Communication skills conducive to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels are necessary. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.

Application Instructions

Applicants should create a profile at Interfolio https://apply.interfolio.com/177120 and upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of current and future research plans (3 page maximum), teaching statement (1 page maximum, with attachments such as syllabi allowed), and up to 5 reprints of papers published or in press. Applicants who are at the Assistant Professor level should also provide 3 confidential letters of evaluation.

Review of applications will begin on January 2, 2026, and will continue until the search is closed. Candidates must be available to attend an in-person symposium during the week of March 2, 2026. Please address questions to Lisa Serman, Chair’s Assistant, at lisa.serman@yale.edu.

Equal Employment Opportunity Statement

The University is committed to basing judgments concerning the admission, education, and employment of individuals upon their qualifications and abilities and seeks to attract to its faculty, staff, and student body qualified persons from a broad range of backgrounds and perspectives.

Additionally, in accordance with this Policy and as delineated by federal and Connecticut law, Yale does not discriminate in admissions, educational programs, or employment against any individual on account of that individual’s sex; sexual orientation; gender identity or expression; pregnancy, childbirth or related conditions; race; color; national or ethnic origin; religion; age; disability; protected veteran status, or other protected classes as set forth in federal and Connecticut law.

Professional Conduct Review for New Faculty Hires

The final candidate, upon acceptance of a contingent offer of employment/faculty appointment, may be required to disclose whether they are, or have been, the subject of any disciplinary proceeding (investigation, hearing, etc.) at previous institutions or employers, and may also be subject to a background screening. Candidates who materially misrepresent information on their resume or other application materials are ineligible for hire/appointment. Final candidates may also be required to sign a release to allow Yale to solicit information regarding any substantiated conduct violations from current and/or past employers.
