Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist - Kim lab
The Kim lab is seeking a motivated Specialist to conduct independent and collaborative projects that employ intravital imaging, laser perturbations, and analytical methods to study glaucoma and vascular dysfunction of the eye. This Specialist will present data at scientific meetings, prepare manuscripts, mentor junior members of the lab, and assist with funding applications relevant to their projects.
The Kim lab is committed to improving health and vision by applying tools from optical engineering, quantitative biology, and genetics to tackle important questions in human disease and vision loss. Our research focuses on imaging, laser perturbations, and quantitative analyses within living biological systems, with an emphasis on vascular dysfunction, glaucoma and aqueous outflow, and oculomics to provide insight into systemic diseases. Our approach is cross-disciplinary, and we employ nonlinear optical techniques (two- and three-photon excited fluorescence microscopy, second- and third-harmonic generation microscopy, photodisruption) and genetic technologies (tissue- and temporally-regulatable transgenics, optogenetics, single-cell transcriptomics) to investigate developmental, cellular, and molecular mechanisms driving biology and disease pathophysiology.
Required Qualifications:
- Assistant Specialist - Master's degree or a baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of research experience.
- Associate Specialist - Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
- Full Specialist - terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge with optics, advanced microscopies, and image analysis is preferred.
- Experience with vascular biology, mouse genetics, microsurgery, and/or immunohistochemistry are preferred.
- Interest in learning and assisting with clinical and translational activities is preferred.
- Hard working, passionate about research, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
