Job Description
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri currently seeks candidates for an open NTT Faculty position in Equine Emergency Medicine to join our busy and thriving Equine Service and Hospital. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position.
Primary clinical teaching and service responsibilities will be in support of equine emergency services for the Veterinary Health Center. Position duties will include veterinary care of emergency patients and surgical responsibilities for candidates with surgical training. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide clinical instruction and mentoring of professional veterinary students, interns, residents, and in the clinical setting.
- Provide health care and service to equine patients of the Veterinary Health Center
- Provide after-hours in-house and ambulatory emergency services.
- Advise and consult with referring veterinarians and clients regarding emergency cases.
- Effectively communicate and work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
- Provide leadership and direction to interns, and residents.
- Participate in committee assignments, curriculum development, and other administrative service in support of the department, college, and university.
- Other duties as assigned.
Final distribution of effort will be based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, career goals, and the needs of the Equine Section.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc).
Candidates will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:
- Prior experience in equine emergency medicine and practice
- Residency training and ability to obtain board-certification through a relevant certifying body (such as ACVS, ACVIM, ABVP, or ACVECC)
- Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Missouri
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain DEA and BNDD
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain Federal Accreditation by the USDA
- Professional, residency and graduate training
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license.
