The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position. This position would be hired at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Clinical Practice. This position is non-tenure eligible. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Assistant, Associate, or Professors of Clinical Practice are eligible for an initial appointment period of three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter that aligns with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date would be Winter 2025, but this is flexible.

Clinical duties will be based primarily at VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle. Duties include providing nephrology care on the inpatient consult service and out-patient clinics, performing non-visit consultations, and delivering care for patients undergoing long-term dialysis. The number of weeks on consult service, the number of outpatient clinics, and extent of participation in dialysis and remote nephrology care will be based on the need and at the discretion of the Section Head and Division Head. Travel to outreach specialty clinics within the VA system is expected. Although this position’s clinical focus will be on general nephrology, we expect the person in this position will develop one to two clinical subspecialty areas of interest and expertise.

In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. This position will also participate in divisional teaching and academic conferences as assigned, such as presenting annually at grand rounds conference.

This position is a federal government position paid directly by the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to VA Puget Sound Health Care System for information about compensation and benefits for this position.

Applicants must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be ABIM board-certified in Nephrology (or foreign equivalent). They must also have completed an ACGME accredited nephrology fellowship (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. Successful candidates should demonstrate outstanding clinical and teaching skills.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

For consideration, please attach CV and cover letter, and a diversity statement of past and planned contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion to Interfolio application.
