The Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity (OMII) is a growing academic unit committed to excellence in biomedical sciences integration, oral medicine, oral and maxillofacial pathology, periodontology, and translational research. The department maintains strong collaborative relationships across Harvard Medical School, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital (now MGB)
The HSDM invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Periodontology within the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity (OMII). This role, expected to be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Applicants should have a strong record and future promise in teaching, service, and scholarship.
The successful candidate will join a renowned program in Periodontology known for its emphasis on research, education, and clinical excellence. Responsibilities include providing leadership as Clinical Director of Periodontology. The candidate will teach and mentor predoctoral and advanced graduate students in periodontology, including clinical supervision, didactic instruction, and serving as a course director. Additionally, they will engage in scholarly activities and contribute to research initiatives, including mentorship of students and residents in their research projects. The role also involves conducting and leading clinical studies as well as participating in and contributing to ongoing national and international continuing education programs. The candidate will collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams within HSDM, Harvard Medical School, and affiliated institutions such as Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Additionally, this position may encompass patient care responsibilities both within the institution and in external settings.
Basic Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a DMD or DDS (or equivalent degree)
- Completion of specialty training in Periodontology
- Eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts, whether full or limited faculty licensure, is required
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in periodontology and implant dentistry.
Additional Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in Periodontology (Master's, DMSc or PhD) is preferred.
- The successful candidate should have experience with digital dentistry, digital implant planning, advanced soft and hard tissue regenerative and reconstructive procedures, and applying precision medicine and artificial intelligence within periodontics.
- Demonstrate a strong record of scholarly accomplishments including clinical and translational research, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, as well as experience teaching both predoctoral and advanced graduate students.
- They should be recognized within the profession as an individual of outstanding clinical competence and integrity, with a strong commitment to create an outstanding learning environment that values diverse backgrounds and goals.
Salary Range:
The salary range for an Assistant Professor is $125,000 to $180,000. The salary range for an Associate Professor is $165,000 to $250,000. Posted salary ranges are based on a full time equivalent.
