ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN KINESIOLOGY

Samford University’s School of Health Professions invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology. This tenure-track faculty position is a 12-month appointment beginning as early as January 1, 2026, but no later than May 1, 2026. The major responsibilities of the position are to teach graduate and undergraduate didactic courses, support the newly developed Master of Science in Performance and Applied Sport Science, and engage in scholarship and service. Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to: assisting with program assessment, accreditation standards and reports, curriculum development and assessment, and student mentoring.
Qualified candidates will hold either doctoral degree in exercise science, sport science, kinesiology, data analytics, or related field; or be a highly qualified candidate with ABD who will have their doctoral degree in hand by May 1, 2026. To be considered at the rank of Associate Professor, the candidate must demonstrate a strong record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals, and evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring graduate students. Preference will be given to applicants with current certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and/or experience with data management systems applicable to exercise or sport science. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, students and colleagues are expected.
The College of Health Sciences includes four schools: School of Health Professions, Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, and School of Public Health.
