Assistant/Associate Professor in Vector-borne Disease

A scientist using multidisciplinary approaches to study vector-borne pathogens and pathogen-host interactions is sought for a full-time tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University, Pullman, WA. Faculty in the department are nationally and internationally recognized leaders in research on pathogens that cause significant disease in animals and humans, including those with potential for transmission at the human-animal interface. Additionally, close partnerships with scientists in the USDA-Agricultural Research Service unit housed within the department and scientists in the Paul G. Allen School for Global Health and the School of Molecular Biosciences offer numerous opportunities for collaborative research programs. We seek an individual using state-of-the-art technologies to study vector-borne pathogens that pose a significant health risk to animals and humans. Areas of emphasis include veterinary or zoonotic vector-borne diseases that complement and extend current research programs. The position is approximately 75% research, 20% teaching and 5% service to the Department, College, the University and the profession. This position includes a competitive institutional salary and a generous benefit and start-up package. A doctoral degree in a biomedical discipline or a related field, a minimum two years productive postdoctoral research experience, and evidence of the potential to establish a competitive research program are required for the Assistant Professor level. For the Associate Professor level, evidence of an established, extramurally funded research program, a record of peer reviewed publication, successful collaboration, and a proven track record of graduate education are required.
