Assistant/Associate Professor of Athletic Training (MSAT)

WSU invites you to join our Community of Learners as an Asst/Assoc Professor of Athletic Training. This is a tenure-track appt starting 8/2026.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instruction will be within the 3+2 and 2-year Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program, and the undergraduate exercise and rehabilitative science program in the department. The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that may include, but are not limited to:
- MSAT Courses: Principles of Athletic Training, Clinical Exam and Diagnosis, Therapeutic Modalities, Therapeutic Rehabilitation, Therapeutic Interventions (General Medical), Psychosocial Issues in Sports Medicine, Pharmacology in Athletic Training, Interprofessional Health Care, Research, Administration and Professionalism, Topics, and Clinical Experience
- Exercise Science Courses: Anatomical Kinesiology, Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries, Foundations of Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning
- Instruct courses in multiple formats and locations throughout the year to meet program, department, and university needs.
- Collaborate with faculty in curriculum review, revision, assessment, and strategic planning.
- Potential to teach summer MSAT courses.
- Participate in the recruitment, admission, and retention of MSAT program applicants.
- Contribute to student growth and development including academic advising of undergraduate and MSAT students, and potentially supervising student research projects.
- Assist with maintaining CAATE accreditation.
- Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
- Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
- Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
- Earned doctorate (e.g., PhD, EdD, DSc, DAT) in Athletic Training or related field by August 2027.
- Certification and in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Current or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in Minnesota.
- Experience teaching courses at the undergraduate or graduate level in exercise science or athletic training.
- Clinical practice experience in athletic training.
- NPI number with appropriate health care field designation.
Preferred:
- Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
- Experience teaching a variety of courses within a CAATE accredited master’s level athletic training curriculum.
- Experience teaching using multiple delivery methods (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, and online).
- Demonstrated contemporary expertise in athletic training through additional credentials or certifications in specialties (e.g., Graston, CES, Dry Needling, instructor certification for BLS, CSCS).
- Experience mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students.
- Experience with course development and assessment
- Evidence of supervising master’s level research projects relating to athletic training.
- Experience with maintaining CAATE accreditation.
- Experience as a clinical preceptor for athletic training students.
- Demonstrated service to the profession of athletic training and/or involvement in athletic training related professional organizations
