Assistant/Associate/Professor of Medical Sciences (Tenure Track)

Columbia University Irving Medical Center in the Department of Medicine, Division of infectious Diseases, Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center invites applications for an open-rank faculty position (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor). Appointments will be made as tenure-track or with tenure, commensurate with qualifications and experience and academic accomplishments.
Applicants working on innovative ways to combat infectious disease in research areas including but not limited to virology, immunology, biochemistry, molecular biophysics, and clinical or translational science (or related disciplines) are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will join research-driven faculty with a strong record of scientific accomplishments impacting infectious disease, especially HIV-1, and offer a highly collaborative research environment.
Candidates should have a record of or demonstrate strong potential for establishing and sustaining an innovative and productive independent research program.
Key duties and responsibilities will be to:
- Develop and lead an independent research program
- Obtain and maintain extramural research funding
- Publish in high-impact peer reviewed journal
- Foster collaborations within ADARC and across the Division of Infectious Diseases and Columbia University
- Mentor trainees including graduate students and postdoctoral fellows
- Contribute to Center professional activities such as serving on internal committees and participating in fundraising activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and have demonstrated research training and accomplishment appropriate for an independent academic career.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate is expected to have a successful record of extramurally funded research, or to demonstrate potential to obtain extramural research funding.

The research statement must describe past accomplishments, future research directions, and a statement of teaching and mentoring philosophy.
