The primary location of this position is on the main campus in Cullowhee, NC.

The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at Western Carolina University (WCU) is growing! The University has received substantial support from the North Carolina legislature to expand engineering to meet the rapidly growing needs of the region and state. We are recruiting for a faculty position in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field, at the rank of assistant or associate professor of practice. Responsibilities include teaching; advising; course and curriculum development; and engagement with regional business and industry. Research and scholarship opportunities are also available.

Professors of Practice routinely teach in multiple topical areas at the undergraduate and graduate levels in electrical and computer engineering. For this position, candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are highly desired:

  • Cyber-Physical Systems
  • Digital Twins
  • Embedded Control Systems and Verification (Hardware-in-the-Loop)
  • Machine Learning
  • Quantum Computing, Sensing, Communications
  • Semiconductor Devices (Simulation, Characterization, Reliability)
  • Wide Bandgap Power Electronics

This is a nine-month fixed-term position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice. Rank will be determined at the point of hire. The anticipated start date is August 2025.
