Imperial College London invites applications for permanent faculty member positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, starting in the 2025-26 academic year.
The appointee will conduct research, teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in any area of Life Sciences, at the following scales:
- Molecules and cells
- Tissues and organisms
- Ecology, sustainability and planetary health
To help assign review panels, indicate in your application which stream you would like to be considered in. Multi-disciplinary approaches are particularly welcome. AI/ML approaches are encouraged.

Duties and responsibilities
Research
- Develop a broad range of research within the department.
- Supervise, train and mentor research staff and students.
- Manage research projects.
- Publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Attend and present at national and international conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues within and across departments.
- Play a role in the national and international research community.
Education
- Teach at undergraduate, masters and higher research degrees through lectures and seminars.
- Examine courses at all levels.
- Mentor students through personal tutorials and supervision.
- Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement of teaching.
Contribution to the running of the department and college
- Participate in planning and objective setting.
- Manage individual performance and academic groups.
- Contribute to leadership of academic teams and initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with department members.
- Attend relevant committees.
Essential requirements
- A PhD in Life Sciences or a related discipline.
- A proven track record in high-quality independent research, evidenced by publications.
- Experience in training undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Experience in preparing grant applications.
- Experience in developing skills in leading and managing colleagues.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to raise research funding.
