Job Summary
The Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a full-time Teaching Faculty for the Engineering Partnership Program (EPP) at Colorado Mesa University (CMU). This position is based at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado and is anticipated to start in August 2026.
This position involves teaching undergraduate engineering courses which could include:
- Circuits and electronics for mechanical engineers
- Data analysis (statistics) and experimental methods
- Senior design/capstone courses
- Engineering electives aligned with program needs and applicant’s expertise
This position has responsibilities for teaching three upper-division undergraduate engineering courses per semester. In addition to teaching, responsibilities of this position also include:
- Serving on EPP committees
- Evaluation activities for program accreditation
- Student mentoring and advising
- Outreach and recruiting
- Professional development
- Fostering and maintaining relationships with industry
This position is anticipated to be hired at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank; however, qualified candidates may be considered at the Associate Teaching Professor rank.

Since 2008, the University of Colorado Boulder has offered accredited bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering at Colorado Mesa University through the Engineering Partnership Program (EPP). Students spend the first two years taking courses with CMU faculty, and the remainder of the program is taught on-site by CU Boulder faculty permanently based at CMU.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Teach three courses per semester.
- Provide service to the Engineering Partnership Program by serving on EPP committees, engaging in evaluation activities for program accreditation, mentoring and advising students, engaging in outreach, recruiting, and professional development, and fostering and maintaining relationships with industry.
- The typical distribution of work for this role is 80% teaching and 20% leadership and service.
- The selected candidate will be offered a multi-year contract which may be renewable; specific term length will vary based on start date.

What We Can Offer
The anticipated salary range for this position at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank is $80,000 - $90,000 academic year salary. Qualified candidates will be considered for the Associate Teaching Professor rank. The full salary range is $80,000 - $105,000 dependent on rank. A relocation stipend is available within CEAS guidelines. What We Require
Candidate must have earned a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or another related engineering discipline; or a master’s degree in an engineering discipline and six years of industry or undergraduate teaching experience. For a candidate to be considered for appointment to the Associate Teaching Professor rank, the applicant must also have a minimum of 6 years’ experience teaching engineering courses at a higher education level and meet unit criteria at this level.

What We Would Like You to Have
Experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline within an industry setting. A professional engineering license.
