Position Highlights

The Assistant Coach, Performance Enhancement, will develop and manage the strength and conditioning programs for Division I varsity sports and manage the Strength and Conditioning facility.

This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of all physical characteristics for Women's Basketball. These characteristics include strength, speed, conditioning and energy system development, sport specific movement, body profile management, and functional stages of rehabilitation for injured athletes who have been cleared for participation by the medical staff.
  • Instruct in lifting techniques, plyometrics and sprint development.
  • Test and evaluate athletic performance on strength, power, flexibility, body composition, and specific conditioning.
  • Assist with counseling and referral of student-athletes to certified nutritionists regarding diet, nutrition, and weight control.
  • Work cooperatively with the Medical Services staff to provide remedial programs for correction of deficiencies as a result of insufficient training or injury.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a database for assigned student-athletes.
  • Enforce the rules and regulations governing the activity in the weight room.
  • Budget accountability.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of position related NCAA, Big 12, and University of Arizona rules and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and support team goals.
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities, and successfully manage multiple priority projects.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • One year of experience.
  • CSCS or SCCC certifications.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology or a related field.
  • Experience as a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level.
  • NASM PES Certification.
  • USAW Certification.
  • CPR & AED Certification.
