POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Seton Hill University invites applications for the position of Full-Time Assistant Wrestling Coach. This is a 12-month position responsible for assisting the Head Wrestling Coach in all aspects of operating a successful NCAA Division II wrestling program. The Assistant Coach will play a key role in recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes, developing competitive wrestlers, supporting academic achievement, ensuring NCAA compliance, and contributing to the continued growth and success of the wrestling program. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering a positive, disciplined, and championship-minded culture that reflects the mission and values of Seton Hill University.
Recruiting
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who are academically, athletically, and culturally aligned with Seton Hill University.
- Develop and maintain relationships with high school, club, and junior college coaches.
- Coordinate recruiting communications, campus visits, and recruiting databases.
- Travel extensively for recruiting and evaluation purposes.
- Serve as the primary recruiter for assigned geographic territories and recruiting initiatives.
- Meet annual recruiting goals established by the Head Coach, including the successful recruitment and enrollment of approximately 10-15 qualified student-athletes per academic year.
- Maintain an organized recruiting pipeline and consistently communicate with prospective student-athletes and families throughout the recruiting process.
- Assist in the retention of student-athletes by supporting their academic, athletic, and personal development throughout their collegiate experience.
Coaching and Athlete Development
- Assist in planning and conducting daily practices, individual workouts, and competition preparation.
- Provide technical instruction and skill development for student-athletes.
- Assist with match strategy, scouting reports, video analysis, and opponent preparation.
- Coach during practices, dual meets, tournaments, and postseason competition.
- Help develop offseason training and summer development plans.
Student-Athlete Success
- Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete retention and graduation.
- Work collaboratively with academic support services to ensure student-athlete success.
- Serve as a mentor and role model while promoting leadership, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Compliance
- Maintain knowledge of NCAA Division II, PSAC, and University rules and regulations.
- Ensure all recruiting, eligibility, and program activities comply with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies.
- Participate in departmental compliance education and reporting requirements.
Program Operations
- Assist with team travel arrangements, equipment management, and practice scheduling.
- Coordinate camps, clinics, and fundraising initiatives.
- Assist with social media, program promotion, alumni engagement, and community outreach.
- Maintain recruiting databases and other program records.
Department Responsibilities
- Support departmental initiatives and events.
- Serve on committees and complete additional duties as assigned by the Head Wrestling Coach and Director of Athletics.
Qualifications - Required
- Bachelor's degree.
- Collegiate wrestling experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of wrestling techniques, training methods, and recruiting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel extensively and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate university vehicles.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required.
Qualifications - Preferred
- Master's degree.
- Previous collegiate coaching or recruiting experience.
- Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
- Experience with video analysis software, recruiting software, and social media platforms.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate wrestling techniques.
- Ability to travel and attend practices, competitions, camps, and recruiting events.
