The Assistant Dean, Communication and Creative and Performing Arts (CCPA) is responsible for assisting and supporting the Dean in the administration of the academic programs for all campus locations. The essential functions of this position will include addressing student concerns, course scheduling, curriculum development, program and course assessment, and collaboration across campuses for various student initiatives.
Travel will be required, as this position will work on both the Gloucester and Cumberland Campuses.
Examples of Duties
- Assists with the development and monitoring of program and course goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Serves as a resource for assessment activities for the Division.
- Coordinates the submission and implementation of course and program additions, revisions, and deletions according to the prescribed curriculum revision process
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop and implement effective teaching, support, and retention strategies for students.
- Coordinates division-wide and program-specific initiatives with course and program coordinators
- Provides counseling and advisement to students on academic issues.
- Communicates and collaborates professionally with personnel from other divisions and departments to honor the mission and values of the College and the Division and to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.
- Participates on college wide committees, attends college events, and assists with student events.
- Promotes and supports the value of diversity and cultural sensitivity in all aspects of teaching and learning.
- Maintains a high level of expertise through participation in approved professional development activities and regular review of professional journals and other publications.
- Consistently exhibits professionalism in the performance of duties and in serving in place of the Dean at meetings and events in the College and the community.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a field of CCPA or a related area of study required
- RCSJ tenured faculty status required
- Documented experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Documented familiarity with a variety of learning delivery modalities, e.g., face-to-face, live-on-line, online, and hybrid
- Documented experience in the coordination of developmental education
- Documented familiarity with RCSJ's various campuses (Gloucester, Cumberland, Vineland)
- Documented experience with the Anthology system
- Documented experience with scheduling of courses on all campuses
- Documented proficiency in oral and written communications and interpersonal relations, including the ability to present to administration, community groups, students, and/or Board of Trustees
- Ability to travel to multiple educational institutions, utilizing personal vehicle for travel
- Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings
