Assistant Dean
Job Summary
The Assistant Dean for Recruitment and Retention provide strategic leadership for recruitment, enrollment, and retention initiatives within the College of Arts and Sciences. This position collaborates with college leadership, academic departments, university offices, and external partners to strengthen recruitment pipelines, support student enrollment goals, and promote best practices for student retention. Some of the duties assigned to the position include:
- Collaborate with college and university leadership to support enrollment planning and recruitment and retention strategies.
- Represent the college at recruitment events, campus visits, school visits, and community events.
- Work with CAS departments, the College of Arts and Sciences Advising unit, the Office of Planning and Decision Support and the Division of Student Life and Enrollment to track trends in student retention, promote the adoption of best practices for student retention, and assist departments in addressing student retention issues.
- Build and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including academic departments, student services, high school partners, community colleges, and community organizations.
- Analyze enrollment, recruitment, and retention data to inform planning and decision-making.
- Stay abreast of scholarship opportunities and programmatic changes within the college and share with appropriate audiences.
- Coordinate with academic advisors for cohesive messaging and student support.
- This 12-month staff position reports to the Dean of the College, and interfaces with academic chairs for recruiting and retention activities and coordination.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a discipline offered by Arts and Sciences, and/or meaningful experience in arts and sciences programs. Five years of relevantly progressive experience in student recruiting, retention, or other interactions in a university environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in a discipline offered by Arts and Sciences, and/or meaningful experience in arts and science programs, and 5 years of relevant experience as noted above.
