Overview

Auburn Advancement is excited to begin the search for an Assistant Director, Development to join our Corporate & Foundation Relations team! In this role, you will help advance fundraising initiatives within a college or unit while leading a small team of development professionals and managing a portfolio of donors. Your work will help strengthen donor relationships, support strategic campaign priorities, and drive meaningful philanthropic impact across Auburn University.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and Support a CFR Fundraising Team: Supervise and mentor a small team of Corporate & Foundation Relations development professionals, providing day-to-day guidance and support for proposal development, relationship management, and gift solicitation efforts. Monitor progress toward fundraising goals and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Advance Corporate & Foundation Fundraising Strategies: Assist in developing and implementing CFR fundraising strategies that align with engagement goals, philanthropy priorities, and institutional initiatives. Collaborate with development leadership to coordinate campaign efforts and strengthen partnerships with corporate and foundation stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and Manage Corporate & Foundation Partnerships: Maintain a personal portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects with an assigned fundraising goal. Engage partners through thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities that build long-term relationships and expand philanthropic investment in Auburn University.
  • Strengthen Engagement and Institutional Collaboration: Guide staff in preparing proposals, presentations, and marketing materials that communicate Auburn's priorities and opportunities for partnership. Represent the unit at donor events and university functions while helping identify and address operational or strategic challenges that impact fundraising success.

Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities as Assistant Director, Development:

  • Purpose: Support the planning and execution of Corporate & Foundation Relations (CFR) fundraising initiatives that advance Auburn University's engagement and philanthropic priorities. Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies that align corporate and foundation partnerships with institutional goals while strengthening relationships that support Auburn's mission.
  • Collaboration: Lead and supervise a small team of CFR development professionals, providing day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and support for fundraising and proposal development efforts. Partner closely with development leadership and internal and external stakeholders to coordinate campaign initiatives, build collaborative partnerships, and advance donor engagement strategies.
  • Innovation: Guide staff in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and marketing materials that effectively communicate Auburn's philanthropic opportunities to corporate and foundation partners. Contribute to the development of creative fundraising strategies and collaboration approaches that strengthen engagement with key stakeholders and expand opportunities for institutional support.
  • Production: Maintain a personal portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects with a defined fundraising goal, actively engaging in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. Track team progress toward fundraising goals and provide updates to senior leadership while representing the unit at donor events and university functions. Contribute to identifying and resolving operational or strategic challenges within the development unit while supporting overall CFR fundraising outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, or public relations.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Driver License, Valid and in State
