Location

(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Assists in developing and administering policies and procedures, extensive scope and impact of decisions both internal and external contacts, and mission of the department. Provides strategic management of assigned programs, processes, and initiatives. Participates in planning and implementation of required business processes. Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory requirements. Responsible for the execution and management of individual programs or processes.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Trouble-shoots and maintains quality assurance processes within assigned financial aid area
  2. Manages, coordinates assignments and tasks of assigned staff and meets with staff on a regular basis
  3. Establishes strategies for effective delivery of program awards
  4. Oversees the staff interactions with customers and families ensuring effective communication and correct information is given
  5. Reviews and audits completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance; facilitates training as needed
  6. Ensures that any tickets received from the Communications Center are responded to in the established time frames and handled quickly and professionally
  7. Develops and conducts training on programs, such as state programs, verification, study abroad, consortium agreements, etc.
  8. Monitors the financial aid website for any updates or changes in information that need to be made and make the appropriate changes as needed
  9. Ensures all daily reports are processed and completed timely to ensure inquiries are responded to quickly and efficiently
  10. Responsible for the execution and management of individual programs and/or processes
  11. Provides updates to leadership per guidelines regarding needs, concerns or training issues
  12. Maintains a master calendar for assigned department and staff activity
  13. Point of contact to resolve questions or issues
  14. Conducts presentations for various constituent groups as requested
  15. Ensures the unit is in compliance with governing regulatory requirements
  16. Serves as a member of the leadership team and makes recommendations for goals and objectives

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Required Experience
Three (3) years of related financial aid experience in an accredited institution of higher education

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) Credentials

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field

Preferred Experience
Previous experience with Banner (Ellucian)

Proposed Salary

The budgeted salary range for this role is $58,000-$75,000 annually. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Able to understand, research, and resolve complex issues related to various federal and state systems, including but not limited to an understanding of Central Processing System, Electronic Data Exchange, National Student Loan Data System, Common Origination and Disbursement, Surfer
Able to represent department leadership and the department in meetings presentations with both internal departments and/or external entities
Able to plan, coordinate and complete large scale, detail-oriented projects and events
Able to work in partnership with, staff, faculty, administrators, federal/state entities, and servicers to ensure student success
Able to maintain compliant records of all transactions between the University and outside reporting entities
Able to lead compliance efforts involving federal, state, and institutional financial aid
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of state program rules and regulations for Financial Aid in the State of Georgia
Knowledge of Title IV rules and regulations, as they pertain to Federal Student Financial Aid
Knowledge of and abides by the regulations of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Knowledge of financial aid at the federal, state and institutional levels and stays abreast of changes to state and federal rules/regulations

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, Ellucian Banner Financial Aid Module, USG GA Modifications to Banner, Common Origination and Disbursement, Central Processing System, Surfer, and the National Student Loan Data System)
High level of empathy and ability to deal with difficult and confidential situations
Conflict management and resolution skills
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette

This is a supervisory position.
This position has financial responsibilities.
This position will not be required to drive.
This role is considered a position of trust.
This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card).
This position may travel 1% - 24% of the time
This position does not require security clearance.
